Tell us about yourself?
Hello everyone, I am Khyati, a book blogger from India. I have been a reader since my childhood and my affection for written words made me a writer as well. I love to learn new things and make the best use of the time in hand. Thus, I work harder to utilize my time as much as possible and use my online time productively. I am a girl with dreams (I wouldn’t say that they are big) who would work relentlessly to fulfill them. I strongly believe that all of us are nothing but our dreams. Never give up on them. I graduated in engineering and tried my hands in content writing and book blogging while I was in University. Since then, there’s been no looking back for me.
Why do you write?
I write only when a voice from the deepest recesses of my heart says so. I write because honestly, I am bad at expressing verbally and writing things down make my work easy. I write when words pull me, when the thoughts start brimming inside of me, when I am so messy that I cannot scream or cry or laugh my heart out. To express every heartfelt emotion of mine, I write.
Why did you start Bookish Fame?
My love for writing pushed me to create a blog. It was started at the spur of the moment, in 2016. It was only in 2017 that I turned more serious toward developing it. I started reviewing books and writing bookish content on it. I kept on experimenting, reading, researching. As I got more involved in book blogging, the blog became my valuable asset and my identity. And that was how Bookish Fame truly came into being.
Tell us about one dream or goal you are currently working towards?
I am working to become the best of who I can be. I love the process of book blogging and with the advent of the Internet, there’s no end to the amount of information you can assume. I learn relevant things online and then apply my learning to grow my blog. The only goal I have in my mind is to take Bookish Fame to greater heights, make it recognized, and create content that provides value to my readers. I have never set a limit to what I can do and achieve. The constant hustle is not easy. On some days, I do feel exhausted and dead but then this dream of mine keeps me alive and on my feet.
What message do you want to share with the world?
If you want something, do not make excuses, do not set any limit on your abilities, and do not take a NO for an answer. If there’s something that fires you from within, go for it. If standing out from the crowd is what you want, do not hesitate in working for the same. The struggle would be real and a lot much hard but know this, no unconventional success came easy. Take risks. Live in the moment even it means grinding yourself. If your heart lies in working continuously, do it and don’t give in to the ideas of others who tell you otherwise. Experiment and Experience.
What is your view on females supporting and helping one another?
This is a beautiful thing – a woman supporting another. We keep on hearing about women tend to gossip and bitch about other women, how they are full of themselves and keep bitching about the rest. But as we work in tandem to support and uplift each other, we are breaking the walls of these notions. I tell you, this is undoubtedly the best thing. Help each other grow and soar.
What is your favorite type of book to read? Fiction, non-fiction etc?
I love books which touch the raw nerves of human emotion. I fall in love with ones which have a lyrical narrative and an atmospheric narration. This year I started reading more of non-fiction and I cannot begin to tell you how much I am enjoying them. I am pretty much comfortable with fiction and non-fiction of all genres. The only condition I put is that either a book should make me feel and think deeply or must provide some substantial learning.
What are your thoughts on mental health and how it’s portrayed in today’s society?
Mental health is a thing for real. And if you see today, the topic is becoming less of a taboo and is gaining traction. People are becoming serious about talking over mental health. I have read books which describe mental health subtly. That’s a great thing. Art should be bringing out the enormity of mental health so that we can connect with it. A healthy mental state is very important for the overall well-being of any person and thus, we should adopt a holistic approach towards treating mental health issues rather than condemning or shushing them.
