Tell us about yourself?
My name is Onthatile Modise, I was born in Mafikeng, North West, and grew up in Kempton Park, Gauteng. I am a young mother of one, a sister, and a daughter. I am currently studying psychology and I am very enthusiastic and passionate about figuring out how the human brain operates, what drives people, and understanding emotional intelligence. I am also an entrepreneur and advocate for Maternal Heath and Women.
Tell us more about IMF (Imperfect Moms Foundation NPO)?
Imperfect Moms Foundation is a Non-Profit Organisation founded on the values of unity in youth empowerment, women empowerment, and social development. Our activities and programs aim at providing a holistic approach to tackling socio-economic issues in our society.
What prompted you to start IMF?
I realized the severity of negativity amongst women and the need for unity and working towards change. I created this platform for women to be able to engage in self-development and break the stigma on women, especially young mothers in many pressing issues that drive the downfall of our society as a whole. I believe that once we recognize and confront our challenges as individuals, we can work towards building a more positive and productive atmosphere, leaving a great legacy for those who follow and in turn contributing to the improvement in our economy and environment.
Tell us about the Maternal Health Classes you will be hosting soon?
The reason why I’ve decided to take upon this endeavor is that, since starting IMF Support, I realized that young women, especially in black communities, are either not well informed or do not consider their health. I would like to educate young women towards becoming more self-aware, especially where their health is concerned. This platform will also be a haven for women to engage on many issues without fear of judgment or prejudice.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to start their own online business?
I would advise taking your time when starting a business. Never rush your ideas or measure your worth against other people. Invest everything you need into your business plan-plan effectively and manage your time efficiently. Your own time, own pace.
What is your message that you want to share with the world?
I’d like the world to know that it is okay! It is okay to mess up, it is okay to cry, it is okay to be wrong, it is okay to be weak. The things that make us stronger, is the way we break through all the tribulations and what is important is how we rise and apply ourselves.
What is your take on females supporting females?
I am totally for women supporting each other. Many women have forgotten how influential they are, and most do not even know the power they possess. We get much further when we work and uplift each other. The drama and petty behavior is so unnecessary and only shows a lot of self-developmental issues within ourselves.
What motivates you to share your story?
I am motivated to share my story because I know there are many out there who can relate. I feel that those who might be experiencing similar obstacles along their journey in finding themselves could find comfort or a safe space to be able to let go of their thoughts without judgment or criticism. I hope to inspire those who are listening to aspire to be nothing but their true self and to always invest in growing their true self-mentally, mentally, physically, and spiritually.
What advice would you give to someone struggling or going through a hard time?
Patience is key! Good things come to those who plan and work hard towards putting their ambitions in motion. Don’t forget to always fix your crown and keep your head up.
