Staying motivated and inspired can be difficult.
I often have days or entire weekends where I find my motivation and inspiration lacking. This is normal and I don’t see anything wrong with taking an entire weekend to just laze around and enjoy some time off.
In fact, I think I’m a serious advocate for sleeping late, spending time by myself, and embracing solitude, but there comes a time when you need to pull yourself out of that slump and motivate yourself to get going again.
So, what drives you and excites you? What motivates you?
There are a few things I do that help me stay motivated and inspired when I find myself lacking motivation and inspiration. These are things I try to do daily that help me feel happier and keep my motivation flowing.
Running 5km on the Treadmill
I have always loved running and it is something I turn to when I am feeling down or need a kickstart. The power of running is incredible. The first thing I do when I get to the gym is jump on the treadmill for that 5k run. Smashing out a 5k run has a way of totally killing any stress and anxiety I felt during the day. Running gets your blood flowing, your heart pumping, and it releases endorphins which is the perfect way to start or end your day.
During my run, I use that time to really reflect on my goals, my worries, and what plans I have for the future. After a full day at the office, it can be hard to think about your own goals and plans because you’re tired but when those endorphins start flowing, it becomes a lot easier to focus on yourself and your goals.
Get a Good Night’s Sleep
Sleep is so important. I absolutely love sleep. Without a decent night’s sleep, I am literally the worst person. I get grumpy, snappy, and I’m just utterly miserable. I make it a point to make sure I get enough sleep. I try and listen to my body as much as possible. If I’m feeling tired and drained, I take a nap or I go to bed early. I have also found that when I work out after a long day at the office, I sleep so much better at night. My mind switches off and I have a solid night’s sleep as opposed to my usual light or broken sleep.
Listen to motivational speeches
I do this every morning. My mornings can often start with an emergency that needs to be sorted out for a client due to the industry I work in and I find starting my day with something urgent just kills my vibe for the rest of the day. I love a fast-paced lifestyle and getting stuff done quickly but when it’s 5am and you have woken up to that emergency, I second guess how my day will go.
So, every morning I try my best to listen to motivational speeches to help me start the day on a positive note. I listen to Your World Within on YouTube. His videos and speeches are absolutely brilliant and I find they really get me ready for the day or week ahead.
Reading
I love reading. There is nothing quite like relaxing in bed under the covers with a really good book. I don’t enjoy reading fiction novels as non-fiction resonates better with me. The books that I have really been loving lately are ”How to Be an Overnight Success” by Maria Hatzistefanis and ”Girl Code” by Cara Alwill Leyba.
These books are so inspiring and motivating. I love real-life stories about how woman have changed the game and created lives for themselves that they are in love with. If I am ever feeling down or lack motivation, I take some time to reread sections out of either book and I immediately start to feel more motivated and inspired.
These are just a few things I do that help me stay motivated. Remember to always take care of yourself and find things that inspire you and motivate you. You are important.
What do you do that helps you kick-start your motivation and inspiration when you find yourself feeling uninspired?.
