Summer in Vancouver is incredible. It’s hot, humid and incredibly beautiful. The greenery is something I have never seen before. Even while I was living in South Africa. And there is something about taking daily walks around the amazing trails the different areas of Vancouver have to offer.
Right now, my favourite is Queens Park in New Westminster. It’s not only about a five-minute walk from my home, but it’s an incredible walk that offers up hill, beautiful forestry trails along with a beautiful park that families can enjoy on the hot summery days.
I have been walking this tail every day for just over three weeks and it never gets old. No matter the time of day, you are surrounded by others that are either riding bikes, walking their dogs or just getting their daily walks in.
Along with the beautiful scenery, it’s no secret that walking daily has its health benefits. And some of these health benefits include:
· Maintaining a healthy weight and lose body fat
· Improve cardiovascular fitness
· Improve muscle endurance
· Increase energy levels
· Improve your mood, cognition, memory and sleep
· Improve your balance and coordination
· Strengthen immune system
These benefits are just to name a few. The faster and farther and more frequently you walk, the greater the benefits. And finding an amazing trail which there are so many of in Vancouver, it makes those daily walks even better.
Queens Park was established in 1887 and is a 75 acre flagship park. It has been home to thousands of families around Vancouver to walk, have children’s birthday parties and enjoy a day out picnicking in the beautiful park. Queens Park has so much to offer along with New Westminster and if you are interested in taking a walk around this beautiful trail, it is located at 3rd Avenue, New Westminster V3M 1V2
Enjoy your day at Queens Park.
