Our previous getaway to Whistler was nothing short of perfect. We decided to extend the weekend by taking off on Thursday and staying until Saturday, making the most of the summer weather. August in Whistler had gorgeous sunshine with just enough breeze to keep things comfortable.
For accommodation, we chose Cascades Lodge, which was a fantastic option if you’re looking for something budget-friendly but still cozy. The rooms come with a kitchenette, which was a great perk—we could easily make breakfast each morning, saving on dining out and giving us more flexibility with our mornings.
After settling in after we arrived, we kicked off our first evening with dinner and drinks at EL Furniture Warehouse, a spot known for its tasty food and affordable prices. This quickly became our go-to for both lunch and dinner throughout our stay, with a laid-back vibe and menu options that didn’t break the bank.
Later that evening, we moved on to one of my favorite spots—the rooftop balcony at The Pangea Pod Hotel. We’ve stayed there before, so we knew it would offer a great atmosphere. The views from the rooftop were incredible, overlooking the charming village walkway. Sipping on cocktails while enjoying the scenery gave the evening such a relaxed, vacation vibe, and the drinks were priced reasonably, which was a nice bonus.
The rest of the trip was all about taking it easy—slow mornings, long walks around the village, and some casual sightseeing. The Cascades Lodge also offered a relaxing day by the pool. I didn’t necessarily become prepared to hit the poo, but Chris sure did take advantage and he jumped in the pool while I lay down on the sun bed and soak up the sun. Since this was a special anniversary trip, we made sure to treat ourselves to something memorable. Sunglass Hut had an irresistible sale (buy one, get one half-price), and we couldn’t resist! Now, we both have a special keepsake from this trip.
Whistler’s scenery, laid-back atmosphere, and the vibe are unlike anywhere else. Sure, it can get pricey, but for a trip like this, it’s absolutely worth it.
